Food of Jamaica : Authentic Recipes
from the Jewel of the Caribbean (Foods of the World Series)
John Demers, Norma Benghiat £12.98
A
great book for home-sick Jamaicans and visitors Here is
a wide variety of Jamaican food, mainly traditional but
given an up-to-date slant. There are many old favourites
and quite a few new ideas to get the gastric juices flowing.
The recipes are accompanied by glorious photographs and
there is a good section on where to buy authentic Jamaican
crafts. Yes, there are omissions in the list of recipes,
but in a book of this size there is much to read and, more
importantly, to cook. Its outward appearance is of a "coffee
table" book but do not fear, this book is destined to become
stained and marked and annotated as all good cookbooks should
as it will spend much of its life on the kitchen preparation
surface!
